From its origins as an open-source project, DefectDojo has always been about the community. For some time, we’ve hosted a channel on the OWASP Slack server, but as we continue growing, we wanted to ensure that the community has a gathering place for all things Dojo going forward.
Today, we’re pleased to share the new home of the DefectDojo community, The Dojo.
For those who prefer a video, here’s our CTO, Matt Tesauro, with a quick overview:
The giveaways Matt mentions are as follows:
- Submit a video about how Dojo makes your life easier via this Google Form. How much time has it saved you? What are your favorite features? What has it helped you do? The first 50 videos will receive a free T-shirt.
- **Note: Please, no AI-generated videos.
- The first 50 people who join our Slack hub will receive exclusive swag in the form of Dojo Sticker package, including exclusive new community stickers.
Here's a quick FAQ on our new home:
When will the OWASP community Slack channel be sundowned?
We will remain active in our OWASP Slack channel throughout the migration, but aim to complete the transition to The Dojo and the new Slack hub by June 1st.
Why are you changing locations?
As DefectDojo grows, we wanted to create a universal hub for all things Dojo that we maintain going forward. This takes the burden of hosting off of OWASP and enables us to deliver more information to our community.
What is available on The Dojo?
You can find a wealth of DefectDojo information on The Dojo– it’s intended to be our main community hub going forward. Here are the key pages.
- Announcements: The place where we'll share big updates to the project and community
- Events: Upcoming virtual and in-person events/meetups
- General: Place for networking with other security practitioners
- Help: Post about issues and receive assistance from other community members here
- Release Notes: Everything you need to know about DefectDojo updates
- Shameless Plug: Where you can share what you’ve done with DefectDojo and see what others have accomplished
What is the Slack hub for?
While The Dojo acts more like a traditional forum and blog, the Slack hub is for real-time interaction with the community to get help, chat with other members, and learn about DefectDojo updates as they happen.
What are the requirements for the video I post to be eligible for free swag?
- Must be uploaded to the Google Form
- Must not be AI-generated
- Keep it short and sweet — under 1 minute
How will I know if I am getting swag for my video or for joining Slack?
To everyone who has been part of this journey so far, thank you so much. We couldn’t ask for a better community. We hope to see you at The Dojo soon!
